acrylic painting - cracking with woodglue i want to show you, how you can create a simple crackled texture with wood glue. i chose two colors for my first layer i apply my color thick and donâ´t dilute it. then this layer must dry. the second layer is wood glue, i apply it very thickly. it looks milky, when itâ´s wet, but will be transparent when dry. iâ´ve already prepared the color for the third layer, which is white mixed with a little burnt umber. for the third layer you better choose a color which is a lot darker or brighter than the color underneath. i makes the effect more visible but first - i apply the wood glue- which now looks milky white. i apply a thick layer in the upper part, i add only little water in the bottom, to show you the different effect.
leave this layer a few minutes, it should not dry we will apply the third layer (paint) in a minute now i dilute the mixed paint (white an burnt umber) with little water for this layer i take a soft brush now i apply the diluted paint on top of the wood glue- donâ´t brush it into each other, just lay it on top carefully try to brush over only once in each part. you can change the effect by changing the direction of the brush strokes i dry it with a hair dryer. you can watch it in time lapse i forgot to take off the masking tape before. i may stick because of the wood glue. iâ´ll try to take it off
you can see the different textures: at the top i applied the wood glue undiluted, the structures are more coarsely
